550 Miles Per Hour?

Check out this video. Marlow Treit and his team believe they’re building the car that will shatter the land speed record for a piston-engine, wheel-driven vehicle. They’re aiming for 550 mph and this 5000 hp, twin engine rocket on wheels might be just the ticket. Optima batteries provide critical power to the car’s complex systems. The attempt to set a world record is planned for 2018 in Australia. Good luck, Marlow and company!

The Yellowstone Trail

Did you know the Yellowstone Trail was the first transcontinental automobile highway in the United States through the northern tier of states from Washington to Massachusetts? Johnson Controls To Invest $245 Million in AGM

Today’s vehicles have up to 50 computers and 150 electrified devices working together to get you where you need to go, including navigation systems, power doors and windows, heated seats and other safety features. These changes over the past 20 years have automakers and consumers looking to Absorbent Glass Mat (AGM) batteries to meet increasing power needs for vehicle functionality. To meet this growing demand Johnson Controls, the world’s largest manufacturer of AGM batteries, announced it is investing $245 million between 2016 and 2020 to double AGM production capacity in North America. “Due to increasing power needs for vehicle accessories and safety functions, along with changing environmental standards, automotive batteries play an increasingly important role in today’s vehicles,” said Joe Walicki, president, Johnson Controls Power Solutions.
